With the large scale of labour migration in Asia and the human and labour rights challenges migrant workers continue to experience, businesses will need to understand how labour migration dynamics affect their operations and supply chains. In this context, effective due diligence means that companies will need to establish risk management system to proactively identify and mitigate the human rights risk experienced by migrant workers.
IOM has been running multiple initiatives on Migration, Business and Human Rights (MBHR) in the Asia Pacific region to support all types of businesses in their responsibility to respect the rights of migrant workers.
Benefitting more than 100,000 migrant workers and hundreds of businesses, IOM has done this by supporting migrant-centred Human Rights Due Diligence, reviewing corporate policies and due diligence procedures, delivering trainings and providing advisory, practical tools and resources. IOM helps governments with public-private dialogue and policy reform to harmonize migration and labour laws in line with international standards. IOM partners with civil society organizations to enhance access to services and justice among migrant worker communities.
