In the context of resettlement, IOM conducts the health assessment of refugees accepted for resettlement prior to their travel, including complete medical assessment (physical examination, chest x-ray, phlebotomy, etc.), pre-departure/embarkation check-ups and ensures fitness to travel. IOM operates its own laboratories in Thailand where specimens are examined to detect various infectious diseases. IOM also provides immunization and presumptive treatment to the refugees, so that they can travel safely and do not pose a public health risk to other travelers or receiving communities. Support services, including tuberculosis detection and counseling, are also provided for both refugees and migrants.
IOM Thailand also conducts health assessments for prospective migrants to the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand at the Migration Health Assessment Center (MHAC) in the Kasemkij Building on Silom Road. Visa applicants should refer to the below information.
REPORT FRAUD!
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been informed that scammers are falsely offering visa application appointments and medical examinations at its Migration Health Assessment Center (MHAC) with the motive of obtaining personal information or soliciting money from applicants. IOM is also aware of fraudulent activity involving some applicants producing counterfeit service fee receipts.
We encourage all applicants to exercise caution by noting that:
- IOM emails applicants from official email addresses ending with “iom.int” and will never email from a non-official address such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.
- IOM Thailand only accepts payment at the clinic during your appointment or online via SCB. For online payments via SCB, please see additional details on Payment Methods (English; Thai)
- Appointments for medical examination with IOM can be made online, by email (iommedbkk@iom.int) or by phone (02-2347950-5).
- IOM focuses on migration health assessments and does NOT offer visa application appointments.
We urge all applicants to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspected corruption or fraudulent activity to IOM by emailing iommedbkk@iom.int.
